Tipped Point

The despair set in
With close,
And stalled again
With open.

The spirited wafts
Left him high and dry,
Memories tricked
Joy remained shy.

That gray morning when
The gravel was eating him further,
It burst through the sidewalk
Giving his eye a shudder.

The colour unidentifiable,
The hope too unbelievable.
The gold trickled warmed his hands,
Down went the knuckles
And it seeped into his core.

I close it today with a song which is probably the only song i first heard live and liked it instantly. Our college band had played it and the lead singer had carried it off pretty gracefully. "Telescope eyes" by Eisley.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxGJ4gXtwMw

~ Shards ~

For this one, i'm gonna quoting here, verbatim, old messages that i unearthed. Texts which arose out of doing nothing and that i had sent to bug people. I hope i success in my endeavour again. :P

-- Seeing a different sorta early morning today. .or so I think. .there's this pale pinkish hue. .so light you would think it's the city lights. .scattered along the rims of the horizon. .while the rest of the sky is dark n dull. . You would have never guessed that the sun was gonna peep out very soon. . I guess that's how Life is too. .we just never know when the radiance will dispel everything and the dark long night will become a forgotten memory. .

-- Too often we confuse Hope with Expectations. Hope is life-giving, d other life-sucking. Hope is d common string dt runs thru all our stories, expectations feed our egos. Hope is part of d reason v r here, expectations- part of why v couldn't b somewhere better.

-- Yeah we run around in circles most of our lives..but each ride could be laden with newness...if only we could see beyond the unspoken, be touched by the unseen, be moved by the unfelt..each moment could fill you with gratitude, if only we were humble enough... I hope you find your haven to slip back into coz a real life lived seems mostly crash and burn..though really its just the way life turns...consistency is the killer.. I hope for you to gather courage & let yourself be surprised by a new sun, everyday...

And since the theme is nostalgia, the song i'm gonna put up today is one which reminds me of a friend every time i listen to it coz she loves this song and was the one who introduced me to it, too. If she's reading this, i know she knows it's her. :)

My life's Confetti :)

So i happened to open up some old stuff in the new year and it reminded me of some of the Good Stuff - which add that unspoken smile to my life's face and which are like a cosy quilt you snuggle up in on a lazy, winter afternoon when the sun is too shy to peep out of the mist. During one of my text conversations with a dear friend (yeah, in those days we had a lot of time na), i came across this thread of discussion where we had exchanged many texts on what we 'love' about life. I'm putting together here as a list, tits bits of the confetti that add the sparkle and little celebrations to my existence, everyday. I hope it atleast makes you smile :)

...long walks..chatty walks, silent walks.. the way our voices change due to a sore throat.. sunlight peeping the curtains...clouds swimming across the sky with a timeless pace.. splash in the puddles..lying and watching the starry sky..or the cloudy sky... doing nothing..
...getting lost in the crowd till you become no one.. feeling your presence...hoarded tokens..stamps... pencil strokes.. simplicity...being alone..hugs... fresh flowers in the house..wrinkled cheeks...teddies.. white socks..silence...
..photography...cute bugs.. trees, flowering or naked...the sound of water flowing.. the way people crowd around a tv in the market to watch a match or a breaking news...sunsets.. the colour Blue...oversized sweatshirts.. the moon...words..
...how strangers get talking on a train/bus/flight..forgotten traditions..rediscovering 'em... human passion...swimming..thehraav... old photos..irrationality...a baby's smile while he/she's sleeping...crayons... conversations.. colours...dad's awkwardness on receiving love.. grandparents' reactions on being gifted something... stories..
..the way music changes my mood..the way it makes me feel so deeply and be.. chocolates.. the way ripples spread across the surface...butterflies.. how a common thing moves people across borders...handwoven woollens.. mountains...
..books...cosy blankets...smiles...hot chocolate and a diary to read and write into..planets...animation...happy endings.. good wins over evil...mountains...maa ki goad.. the splendour and wisdom of nature...sports..

That's all i dug up for now. More soon to follow...i realized this is an easy way to express my gratitude and reconnect with all my Good Stuff. So, what's your list?? :)
The song for tonight is from the old classic "Casablanca" which sings about the 'fundamental things of life..' - couldn't think of a more suited song. Unwind. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d22CiKMPpaY&feature=related

Life's Pop-ups :)

Here's a wishlist of drop-sized joys found in moments perfectly baked and made just for you. I hope these little quirks add that little glee and the skip in your step for all 365 days ahead. *wink from 2012*

1. When the bird's missile lands where your last step had been.
2. When you discover a washed-dried-ironed currency note in an old jacket's pocket.
3. When you get to lick the cake batter left over after the baking tin has gone into the oven.
4. When the auto guy unexpectedly tenders the 3 rupees change.
5. When you wake up feeling fresh as a daisy and your alarm is 6 minutes away.
6. When a chocolate is neither too hard or too soft and rolls in your mouth in fluid perfection.
7. When someone says a thank you when you allow em to pass first.
8. When a vehicle stops for you to cross first.
9. When an old, gifted bookmark slips out of an old, gifted book.
10. When a ten rupee note makes u smile coz of the funny scribble on Gandhi's face.
11. When you're in that semi-sleep state and relish the coziness of blanket cocoon.
12. When you are sandwiched in a gasping bus and the person on the seat right next to you decides to get down.
13. When the power goes out, you're alone at home and nobody can interrupt you watching the rain from the window.
14. When you start dancing in an empty elevator and snap to sober just before the doors open.
15. When a long, lost friend's friend request pops up on your screen.
16. When the lyrics to a song that you just couldn't recall, glide into your mind-space like a boat across the lake.
17. When the radio seems to know all your favourite songs that day.
18. When you get to be part of the fastest line at the grocery store.
19. When someone wakes you up with a kiss on the forehead and the sweetest melody which has just two words - good morning.
20. When the sun isn't on your side while you're on a roadtrip during summers.
21. When the ramshackle dhaaba serves the perfect chai.
22. When the perfect chai warms your frozen hands.
23. When the perfect chai costs less than what you pay for parking while in the city.
24. When you sleep so deep that you can't remember where you are when you wake up (sans consumption of any substance of course :P)
25. When everyone notices & confirms how dandy you're looking today.
26. When someone remembers something that you had thought that nobody had noticed you did.
27. When you're in the middle of a pressure cooker called deadline and someone brings you a cup of hot coffee/chocolate without being asked for.
28. When the phone screen beeps "battery full" just when you are about to step out.
29. When the elevator comes to your floor in a series of 25 floors, just as you approach it.
30. When you read any of the above and a smile of recognition sneaks on your face.

May 2012 never see you without a reason to smile and a pocket devoid of sunshine. :D
To kickoff the year, i leave you with a song to remind you all good things in life and to let you tune in with the slow pace of goodness - "Somewhere over the rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. :)
