My life's Confetti :)

So i happened to open up some old stuff in the new year and it reminded me of some of the Good Stuff - which add that unspoken smile to my life's face and which are like a cosy quilt you snuggle up in on a lazy, winter afternoon when the sun is too shy to peep out of the mist. During one of my text conversations with a dear friend (yeah, in those days we had a lot of time na), i came across this thread of discussion where we had exchanged many texts on what we 'love' about life. I'm putting together here as a list, tits bits of the confetti that add the sparkle and little celebrations to my existence, everyday. I hope it atleast makes you smile :)

...long walks..chatty walks, silent walks.. the way our voices change due to a sore throat.. sunlight peeping the curtains...clouds swimming across the sky with a timeless pace.. splash in the puddles..lying and watching the starry sky..or the cloudy sky... doing nothing..
...getting lost in the crowd till you become no one.. feeling your presence...hoarded tokens..stamps... pencil strokes.. simplicity...being alone..hugs... fresh flowers in the house..wrinkled cheeks...teddies.. white socks..silence...
..photography...cute bugs.. trees, flowering or naked...the sound of water flowing.. the way people crowd around a tv in the market to watch a match or a breaking news...sunsets.. the colour Blue...oversized sweatshirts.. the moon...words..
...how strangers get talking on a train/bus/flight..forgotten traditions..rediscovering 'em... human passion...swimming..thehraav... old photos..irrationality...a baby's smile while he/she's sleeping...crayons... conversations.. colours...dad's awkwardness on receiving love.. grandparents' reactions on being gifted something... stories..
..the way music changes my mood..the way it makes me feel so deeply and be.. chocolates.. the way ripples spread across the surface...butterflies.. how a common thing moves people across borders...handwoven woollens.. mountains...
..books...cosy blankets...smiles...hot chocolate and a diary to read and write into..planets...animation...happy endings.. good wins over evil...mountains...maa ki goad.. the splendour and wisdom of nature...sports..

That's all i dug up for now. More soon to follow...i realized this is an easy way to express my gratitude and reconnect with all my Good Stuff. So, what's your list?? :)
The song for tonight is from the old classic "Casablanca" which sings about the 'fundamental things of life..' - couldn't think of a more suited song. Unwind. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d22CiKMPpaY&feature=related

~ Shards ~

"Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears."
- Les Brown

"Sometimes we love with something more than hope. Sometimes we cry with everything except our tears. In the end that's all there is - love and its duty, sorrow and its truth; to hold on to tight, until the dawn."
- shared by Raghav Jain

"With the sun on my face and the wind beneath my feet, autumn outside and spring inside me..
i step out looking for life; instead life finds me."
- c'est moi

Song for tonight, "Dust in the wind" by an old, 70s American Rock band - Kansas..immerse...

I close my eyes
only for a moment
and the moment's gone
all my dreams
pass before my eyes a curiosity
dust in the wind
all we are is dust in the wind

Same old song
just a drop of water
in the endless sea
all we do
crumbles to the ground
though we refuse to see
dust in the wind
all we are is dust in the wind

Now, don't hang on
nothing lasts forever
but the earth and sky
it slips away

And all your money
won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind
all we are is dust in the wind
dust in the wind
everything is dust in the wind...

Ouroboros

Demons in the head
too many to slay
Divinity eclipsed
no motion, no way.

I jump from one circle to another
deepening the rut
dragging my feet.

And then, a day is born
a crevice appears
a womb, torn.

The vacuum fills me
existence recoils
I turn over, foetal
And the seed is fed back to the soil.

Such is death before death,
such is life after life.

ps. For the uninitiated, the meaning and symbolism of Ouroboros can be unraveled here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouroboros

The sky - it's all webs.

I walk down the cobbled street
No whiff, no blink.
The tempest within, the emptiness without
I break my own story, link by link.
The closed windows, the knobless doors
The sky - it's all webs.
I sense the end, but i seek the ebb.
Pray tell me, where do i step?
The rust glows
The shine blinds,
Fight or flight?
Whichever, i don't mind.
The dropless storm washes my dread
Lightning crashes.
My ground is torn,
And my sky - it's all webs.

Life-Lines.

"I think it's important to be irreverent and make a point of not meeting other people's expectations."
- Natalie Portman

"There's no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
- Chris McCandless

"Along the way, education is trampled by degrees, work compromised by ambitions, love wasted by priorities, spirituality by religion and every philosophy of life laid barren by a paucity of insight."
- Aseembhai

The Pedestal.

The symphony broke
The crash, disrupted.
Too high, too long it had stood
The questions didn't reach.
Too many, too soon had rested,
The love was lost, everyone a leech.
The chain brough em together
But wrangled their necks,
A lifetime of role plays
The captain never came down to the deck.
Now when the dust settled
Hands held under an equal sky
Not just could they listen,
But the Eyes had never seen so clear.

-est no more.

There's an effort i've been trying to make off recent. The going aint that easy but the resistance is more external than internal, which, at least for me, makes the endeavor a tad easier. You see, the biggest fight is me against me. The world takes the cue from there.
It's a resolve to shun Superlatives, as much as i can. The urge to slot things/ relationships/ events/ feelings/ thoughts and almost any kind of experience that we undergo, into that one, which one rules the list, which overshadows all other of its kiln. To make a statement of such indomitableness that topping it would be next to impossible. Ever. And that's where i start getting uncomfortable.
I understand that a lot of times we pass such statements in an extreme state, good or bad. But how long does it stay? The status granted is as ethereal as that fleeting moment of unusual affairs. But the words remain. And live up to them, you have to. Expectations are created. And like their doomed fate, crashed and failed. Why start the whole cycle? Why not simply leave it to your deeds to declare what you feel? Why let the pedestals stand on the quicksand?
It's like 'never say never'. And that reminds of the song itself which goes by these words. The lyrics of which go like this:

Some things we don't talk about
better do without
just hold a smile
we're falling in and out of love
the same damn problem

together all the while
you can never say never
why we don't know when
time and time again
younger now then we were before
don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go

picture, you're the queen of everything
as far as the eye can see
under your command
i will be your guardian
when all is crumbling
steady your hand

we're falling apart
and coming together again and again
we're coming apart
but we pull it together
pull it together, together again

don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go,
don't let me go...

The night seems set to release us, the drops fall and we fall with 'em.

Cookie Crumbs

The sun's glow tapered over the window sil, my eyes danced with the birds.
The fan squeaks and the floor betrays my shift inside.
I look down to find sun's fingers tease an empty plate.
Oh, not so empty.
My finger skates across the porcelain, collecting cookie crumbs as it slides.
Oh, not crumbs, but memories.
An accidental chocochip, a rejected raisin - all memories.
Laughs cracked and pains eased,
Achievements cheered and cuts healed.
Stories exchanged and disappointments baled,
Arguments inticed and fatigues paled.
Hearts; broken and melted,
Shaken and united.
The wind of the dusk brings me back,
The memories now, dusted and rearranged on the rack.

Breads leave behind crumbs too. So do cakes. And so do many other scrumptious edibles. But the Cookie has been chosen for a special reason. Apart from the age-long fascination i've had with these diskettes and my ambition to cook the perfectly gooey, warm and at the same time crispy batch, i had additional interests too. The Cookie, to me, symbolizes innocence, frolic and instant smiles. It's one of those simple joys of life which make several moments more bearable or memorable as the case may be.
My Cookie imagery? A scraped knee, a glass of chocolate milk, a mother's hug, the sting of dettol and the Cookie - the perfect tiny packet of bliss. And memories. :)
